The Glee cast isn’t the only one plagued with scandals — evidently, the Harry Potter family’s full of them, too! Though not as… colorful as the incidents involving the stars of the Fox show (remember, theirs included child pornography and sexual battery), the scandalous events surrounding the HP talents are still disgusting AF.
While the most recent Harry Potter headlines included the untimely passing of Alan Rickman and Emma Watson‘s subsequent ~agenda-pushing~, what you’re about to read is darker; way darker. Delve into the riddikulus world of Harry Potter star scandals… if you dare:
The hero of the eight-movie franchise has opened up quite a bit about his "very addictive personality," saying that he would show up to work on the films inebriated after a night out. "I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes," he told Heat magazine.
Then, of course, there were those photos of what looked like DanRad smoking weed that circulated in 2009, with publications blazing Harry Pothead across its headlines. The actor's spokesperson denied the claims, saying, "Daniel does smoke the occasional roll-up cigarette, but he was not doing anything more than this," but the drawn-on mustache left many to still believe that he was high.
Daniel's not alone in the cannabis claims — his on-screen BFF (or, at least a guy who looks exactly like him) was photographed taking a hit from a bong in 2011.
His rep, too, denied the allegations, saying that it wasn't even Rupert in the snapshot, "This is categorically NOT Rupert Grint. It is an impersonator/lookalike."
Noted feminist & UN Ambassador for Women Emma found herself in the middle of a reported scandal after one site claimed it would release nude photos of her. "After I gave my speech [at the UN], there was a website threatening to release naked pictures of me," she revealed at Facebook HQ. But she said she "knew it was a hoax;" she "knew the pictures didn't exist... This is a real thing that's happening now, women are receiving threats."
She continued, "I was raging, it made me so angry, I was like, this is why I have to be doing this. If anything, if they were trying to put me off it, it did the opposite."
Bonnie Wright & Jamie Campbell Bower
It was seemingly all sunshine & daisies for the Harry Potter pair, who confirmed their relationship in February 2010 and announced their engagement in April 2011. That is, until July 2012 when word got out that, not only were they no longer an item, but that he was already seeing his co-star from The Mortal Instruments, Lily Collins.
While it's not exactly scandalous to jump from one relationship to another, fans speculate that Jamie cheated on Bonnie with Lily before calling it quits, so... Yikes.
In confirmed cheating news, RPattz, who portrayed Cedric Diggory in the series, was publicly wronged by longtime girlfriend Kristen Stewart; the news came to light after photos surfaced of the Twilight actress in the arms of her then-married Snow White and the Huntsman director, when she was very much still in a part of Robsten.
She said in a statement, "I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
There's a reason Vincent Crabbe wasn't a part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In 2009, he was charged with possession of pot, which he pled guilty to, saying he grew the plants in his mother's home. (He was accused of using cocaine in 2006, but he skated by without consequence that time.)
Two years later, he was arrested for his alleged participation in the 2011 England riots, as well as charged with growing cannabis again. He was sentenced to two years in prison — for the riots, at least.
There are so many shades of effed up here, so pay attention. When she was 22, the beautiful actress, who portrayed Padma Patil in the franchise, ran from home after her father and brother threatened to kill her for going out with a non-Muslim (Hindu) man. They reportedly beat her and branded her a prostitute.
According to reports, Afshan's father's plan was to take her to Bangladesh to force her into an arranged marriage.
When her family was taken to court, they were charged with threatening to kill her. Although they were found not guilty of that particular crime, Afshan's brother pled guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm; he was imprisoned for six months.
Although her character was never given a name in Harry Potter, her portrayal of a schoolgirl still qualifies her as a Harry Potter star.
The same group who leaked the nudes of Jennifer Lawrence & Victoria Justice, among others, also hacked Kelsey's iCloud, and released full-frontal selfies, most of which were suspected to be sent to her boyfriend, The Wanted's Tom Parker.
